Souvenirs! Simple items ending up in
drawers and boxes because they can't be parted
with just yet. They pop out memories that range
from childhood up through (ahem) adulthood.
Wrist watches from various eras and interests
(well one predominant interest anyway).
Board game pieces (including dried kidney beans –
I remember the beans but not the game).
A couple of pieces of Mom's costume jewelry
(discarded by her, reclaimed by me).
Pennies (yep, played with those too.)
And BBs. Don't get me started on the BBs.
The Big Brother (not me) had a BB gun that,
let's just say, saw a lot of action. (The recent replacement
of a 50-year-old wooden fence in the back yard
of the family manse caused much merriment as we
conjectured on just how many pounds of BBs
might still have been embedded in it.)
So many story fragments come together
in this happy mandala.
